27th November 2007 - Murtho Forest Landing - Paringa District - South Australia

Renmark District - Reached by travelling North East of Paringa, along Paringa / Murtho Road and Heading Road is Murtho Forest Landing Campground. At the start of the gravel road is a Lookout platform that allows panoramic views of the Murray River and surrounding vineyards. The 2.6k gravel road is very corrugated and a slow trip is advised. The campground has a boat ramp and many shaded level sites close to the river. Unfortunately, due to the drought, the edge of the river is overgrown with reeds and algae. We could find only two spots that allowed the chance to throw a line for the elusive fish. The road to the campsite is an all-weather road but most of the campsites would be very muddy during wet weather.

Further along Paringa / Murtho Road is Customs House Campground. We looked at these campgrounds and decided not to stay at this site.
