11th December 2007 - Blanchetown - Murray Riverland - South Australia

Blanchetown is Situated on the Murray approximately 275k from the River Mouth and it’s worth the effort to detour through the town to have a look at Lock 1 and have a cuppa in the park by the river. Built over a period of 7 years, Lock 1 was completed in 1922 and is the start of the River Murray lock and weir system for water quality control. Take the time to go to the bridge lookout for a good overview of the Murray River and Lock 1. Camping is permitted on the Eastern side of the river near the Lock Weir
