Pildappa Rock, a granite outcrop, is located north of the Eyre Highway near Minnipa in South Australia and is well worth a visit and an overnight stay. An honesty donation box is located in the shelter that provides a gas BBQ. Water and toilet facilities are also available. The rock has wavelike formations and was used to collect water for the surrounding district during the early settlement days. The camping area is large and reasonably flat. Access to the top of the rock is reasonable and rewards the adventurer with magnificent views of the Gawler Ranges and the stonework used to collect water. If travelling in this area, don’t miss the opportunity to visit this site.
