9th January 2008 - Rapid Bay Camping Area - South Australia

Situated right on the beach, Rapid Bay camping area on the Fleurieu Peninsula is a great spot for swimming and fishing. The area is patrolled by a ranger who ensures all are there to enjoy themselves without interference from other inconsiderate campers. Rapid Bay has no shops so campers should come prepared with plenty of provisions. The Jetty has been partly closed due to safety concerns; however, anglers are still able to catch the odd elusive fish and squid. Drinking water is available and a BBQ area in a shelter shed makes for pleasant camping. Flush toilets are cleaned daily and for those keen enough, a cold shower is also provided. All in all, a great spot to stay in a tranquil location.
