About 1k from the Lady Nelson Information Centre is the Umpherston Sinkhole. The vision of James Umpherston, in the late nineteenth century the gardens are now maintained by the City of Mount Gambier as a tourist attraction. A BBQ at the bottom of the sinkhole is popular during the festive season and weddings are also performed at this location. If in the area, take the time to visit the sinkhole and be prepared for a pleasant surprise.
